Stop Global Warming Essays
Stop Global Warming Essays Stop Global Warming Essay Stop Global Warming Essay Stop Global Warming and Start a Clean Energy Movement Global warming disrupts millions of lives daily. Our children and grandchildren will suffer the most from global warming. Here are some ways that we can act to help the earth from warming further. First we need to educate ourselves about Global Warming. The more facts you have the more you help persuade others to change their daily behavior. Energy saving techniques is one example. Almost half of the energy that we use in our homes goes to heating and cooling. To save carbon dioxide we should use programmable thermostats that will automatically lower our heating and air conditioning units. Keep filters clean or replacing them regular on furnaces and air conditioners could also save carbon dioxide. We could use energy efficient appliances in our homes to save on energy. Another thing that we can do stop global warming is carpooling. Carpooling can reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that air put into the air. We need to be more careful about leaving things on such as the television, computer, and lights. The fourth example is we need to plant trees and recycle. If we recycle there will be less trash that has to be burned and took to the dumpster. We also need to watch what we buy. Things such as hairspray and deodorant are now made to have less of an impact on the atmosphere. Vote and influence the government with telephone calls, emails, letters, etc. Replacing incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs has increased the mercury in homes and landfills. Fluorescent bulbs are preferred, but be sure to recycle them and not break them. If a fluorescent bulb is broken, it will release mercury into the air. Choosing a vegetarian food reduces agricultural water consumption and land use. Livestock causes more greenhouse gas emissions. Encourage people to recycle more by using recycle bins. Be sure to fill your dishwasher. Run your dishwasher only on a full load or wash them by hand with minimal water. This will save on carbon dioxide. Make sure you use recyclable paper. Buy locally made and grown products. This will reduce the energy required to transport your goods. Count your carbon consumption. Buy minimally packaged goods. Less packaging can reduce your garbage. Insulate things that use energy to stay a different temperature from its environment. For example, keep your water heater insulated and use less hot water. Be energy efficient and insulate your entire home to cut down on the heating and cooling cost. Also replace old appliances. Recess appliances that you donââ¬â¢t need such as plug in air fresheners, instead open the windows. Unplug unused appliances. These are just a few things that we can begin to do to stop global warming. Human has the ability to destroy the planet, we can also help to protect and sustain it.

Admiral Stockdale essays
Admiral Stockdale essays Through reading this article by Admiral Stockdale, I have certainly become inspired. His perspective on life and education is most honorable. Through deprivation he has prospered, he let his intellect take over and was able to let go of a materialistic status. Which is what most Americans strive on. Mr. Stockdale starts his article with the conviction that the best preparation for a full and successful life, surely entails a proper blend of classical and contemporary studies. He elaborates more in the end of his article by stating a deeper perspective on education, The challenge of education is not to prepare a person for success, but to prepare him for failure. I feel this statement is a more realistic view on how education would be more effective. If the masses of students that attend public education were enlightened to the resources they would need in time of crisis, instead of only teaching tools of success. Our American people would be more a well-rounded society. In our society people only begin to understand how to handle a crisis after the fact. The masses of Americans are taught to only succeed for only themselves, and when a crisis or failure takes place these people are usually alone fending for themselves. A strong society needs to help it self, and not turn its head to the needy. Mr. Stockdale refers to Homers epic, The Iliad, The scene when Hector is leaving his wife and baby son on his way to a sure death in battle. This type of selflessness and sense of duty would be looked down upon in todays American society. Instead remarks like how dumb was he and I would never do that are most likely to be heard. Mr. Stockdale was given the opportunity to leave the prison on the bases that he would disavow American Imperialism, which is something he did not lower him self to. The majority of the American people has never been threatened against their...

Assignment Example Multi vary analysis provide full information on how a shift and a machine are factors, besides giving a full breakdown for one to determined which of the factors are involved, and from which sequence to the other without quantifying any of the factors ( Fay, M.P. & Proschan, M.A., 2010, pp. 1ââ¬â39). It is indeed described as a perfect tool in the determination of where the variability will originate within the sequence of processes since it does not require manipulation of the independent variables or process parameters. Strengths of a multi-vary Chart is that: it provides visual alternatives to analysis of variance; they allow for the display of positional or cyclical variations in processes, and to study variations within a subgroup(s); and, providing an overall view of the factor effects based on the visualized sources of variations in a single diagram. For instance, the multi-chart below illustrates differences that exist between two call centers in terms of customer categor ies (green buttons), requests types (black and white symbols) and call centers (red buttons). It is epitomized that waiting durations are tentatively larger at M call center as compared to S call center. Instrumental variable (IV) Regression This is a broad approach of obtaining a regular estimator of the indefinite measurements of the populationââ¬â¢s recession purpose whenever the regression, X, is correlated with the error term u. one has to think of the variable in X as having two parts: the first part that, for whatever reason, is correlated with u, and a second part that is not correlated with u. In case one has information that can allow him or her to effectively isolate the second section, to enable for a focus on the variables in X that bias the OLS estimates. Information based on movement in X that is uncorrelated with u is gleaned from one or more additional variables, known as the instrumental variables or in some cases, instruments. Therefore, instrumental variables regression applies the additional variables as tools of instruments in isolating the movements in X that are uncorrelated with u, which in turn permit consistent estimation of the regression coefficients. The main key to achieving successful empirical analysis using instrumental variables is through finding valid instruments. Instrument Variable can hence be used in addressing issues to do with threats to internal validity such as: omitted variable bias from a variable correlated with X but is unobserved, to obstruct its inclusion in the regression; errors-in-variables bias; and, simultaneous causality bias. T-Test This analysis tool evaluates if the means of two sets are statistically dissimilar to one another. The t-test is used for testing differences between two means. So as to use a t-test, the same variable has to be measured in varied groups, at varied times, or in comparison to a known population mean. The shared applications of the t-test analysis systems involve testing th e dissimilarities existing between independent clusters, and analysis the differences concerning depended sets. In a T-test analysis, statistical assumption made are that most of its cases have the form t is equal to Z/s, a case of which Z and s are data functions. One-way ANOVA A one-way analysis of variance is a method of testing the

The Valentine Day Massacre Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
The Valentine Day Massacre - Research Paper Example Schwinger and John May, along with five other members of the North Side Irish gang were lined up against a wall and were executed using Thompson sub-machine guns.3 The Victims were executed against the inside rear of a wall belonging to SMC Cartage Company garage at 2122 North Clark street on Lincoln Park neighborhood in Chicago, later the wall became famous as the Massacre wall. The Wall remains the most important artifact of the event. The infamous wall received world wide press coverage because photos depicting the bloody aftermath of the massacre were published world wide.4 According to the coronerââ¬â¢s report, seven machine gun bullets and two shot gun blasts were fired on the seven victims lined against the Massacre Wall. Out of seven, one victim managed to survive for several hours in the hospital but, he refused to name his killers.5 The murders were committed by gangsters, handpicked by Al Capone, who hired them outside the city to minimize the chances of being recognize d by the North Side Irish gang victims. The case still remains officially unsolved because no one was ever convicted of the crime. Al Capone was a very powerful gangster and the event of Valentine Massacre took place at the height of his power in Chicago. The influence of Al Capone on Chicago can be analyzed from the following quote: ââ¬Å"At the height of his power Al Capone carried everyone- from the mayor of Chicago, police captains and judges, to the bell-boys at his luxurious hotel residence ââ¬â around his pockets like loose change, and used his power to exploit societyââ¬â¢s ubiquitously puissant blend of fear and greed.â⬠6 Jack McGurn was the right hand man of Al Capone and it was him, who was the master mind behind the Valentine Massacre.7 Jack McGurn was a perfect example of archetypal good- boy-gone-bad, who harbored a vicious criminality which was perfectly mirrored by the gruesome events of Saint Valentineââ¬â¢s Day Massacre. Jack McGurn was paradoxical and his actions left an indelible impression in the history of America. Jack McGurn and Al Capone staged the murders meticulously in an attempt to eliminate George Bugs Moran. The groundwork devised by Jack McGurn was not only devilishly spectacular but was meticulous as well.8 Jack and Al Capone planned that their hired killers will lure George Moran and his favorite men to warehouse of SMC Cartage Company, by offering them an irresistible deal, which in the case was, a load of hijacked whiskey.9 According to Jackââ¬â¢s plan, Once Moran and his men enter the warehouse, killers disguised as policemen will arrive at the scene, pretending to arrest them, but will kill them instead. Al Capone and Jack McGurn knew that they both would be suspected so they conveniently went out of town, when the massacre took place. Al Capone went on vacation to Florida while Jack went safely elsewhere. Unfortunately, the timing went wrong and the plan misfired because Moran arrived late at the wareh ouse and saw the disguised killers getting out of the police car. Moran was scared and he fled. Therefore, the killers executed seven men that were already there at the warehouse garage.10 Then the two killers disguised as uniformed police officers led the other men at gunpoint, out of the garage after successfully carrying out the shooting. Paper Proposal Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Paper Proposal - Assignment Example The challenges begin right after birth, when members of the society expect the parents of the newly born baby to communicate the gender of the baby (Poisson 365). The society places a lot of undue attention, towards the gender of individuals, right from childhood. Two research questions are used in the study. First, do genderless individuals have adequate recognition in the society? Second, do genderless individuals possess capabilities and competencies needed for societal development? The two questions discuss the needs of genderless individuals in the society (Steensma et al 291). The primary data sources utilized in the research involves interviews and questionnaires. Parents will be given interview questions, to mainly determine if gender recognition plays a significant role in the development of their children (Hiffman & Hurst 205). Secondary sources will also be applied in the research to collect information. Textbooks, journal and magazines will be analyzed for information related to the areas of; gender differences, genderless individuals, role of gender in development, and scientific perspective towards gender differences and roles (Steensma et al
Visual arts...a visit to the metropolitan museum of art Essay - 1
Visual arts...a visit to the metropolitan museum of art - Essay Example as revised to state that: ââ¬Å"The mission of The Metropolitan Museum of Art is to collect, preserve, study, exhibit, and stimulate appreciation for and advance knowledge of works of art that collectively represent the broadest spectrum of human achievement at the highest level of quality, all in the service of the public and in accordance with the highest professional standardsâ⬠(Metropolitan Museum of Art). Where is the mission foundà withinà the museum? Is it written for all to see or is it in a piece of literature available at the entrance?à The mission statement can be found in a stairwell near the 81st street entrance. Is it written clearly or do you think itââ¬â¢s too obscure, or too general? What makes it so? The mission statement is clearly written. The original statement, however, connects the art within the museum to the American culture, the spirit of the idea of creating a collection more defined by the culture for which the collection was created. The newer statement separates the art from the public, re-enforcing the idea that art is elitist and through this idea, creates an alienation of the average viewer from the works. The first statement was inclusive, while the second creates exclusivity. Upon entering the museum, the massive size and detail of the architecture leaves one breathless in its impressive impact. The architecture of the front entrance is organized symmetrically, giving a sense of balance and stability. The architecture is serious, intended to denote the importance of the building and impacting with a solemnity that quiets the soul upon entering. Even with the colorful banners on the outside of the entrance, the attendee is intimidated by its impressive stature. Despite its serious nature, the entrance to the museum invites the attendee to enter, to want the experience that waits within its walls. Despite its large and impressive stature, it is not intimidating, but evokes a sense of excitement in the attendee because of what is
